PHP 5.2 will be discontinued from our web hosting platform on December 1st, 2014. The last release of PHP 5.2 was on January 6, 2011 and has now been fully discontinued by the author.
The php.net web site contains migration guides and useful information on changes between versions.
Popular open source packages such as Wordpress have free updates that run on newer versions of PHP and should be applied whenever they are released as they often also contain security fixes.
All web sites currently on version 5.2 are encouraged to update to newer versions of PHP as soon as possible so that you may make any necessary adjustments to your site prior to PHP 5.2's removal. When 5.2 is removed we will move all sites still on version 5.2 to the next available version, which is PHP 5.3.
